Relationship: sixty-nine years of love and support
By Robert Johnston

Linnea was born in Sweden on April 20, 1905, and grew up there. Now living in Angwin, California, near the famous Napa Valley, Mrs. Linnea Nord is 100 years old.

When she first heard Pastor Julius “J. L.” Tucker talk about Jesus on her radio in July 1937, she loved it! She quickly became a faithful listener and supporter. During one of the earliest radiobroadcasts, Pastor Tucker mentioned that he needed help in giving the radio program a name. He wanted to know if the listeners had ideas, and invited them to mail in suggestions. It was his goal to introduce people to Jesus Christ and to help them learn to trust Him completely for their salvation. And he mentioned to his radio audience that everyone should daily spend a quiet hour with the Lord.

The rest, as they say, is history. A listener wrote that Pastor Tucker had already suggested a name, and that his broadcast should be called “The Quiet Hour.” The name stuck, and The Quiet Hour and its many ministries has remained focused and true to its mission ever since. That’s 69 years, if you’re counting!

Jesus gave us clear instructions. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Today, Pastor Bill Tucker, J.L.’s grandson, continues to share the same gospel of grace as did his father and grandfather. After 69 years, Linnea Nord still loves to hear about Jesus on The Quiet Hour’s radio programs.

Every day, listeners like Linnea call or write to ask us to remember them in our morning prayer sessions. I believe that these prayer sessions are the single most important thing we do at The Quiet Hour. Many faithful friends remember this ministry in prayer each day.

Linnea knows the power of prayer. And for 69 years she has been a faithful prayer partner and financial supporter of The Quiet Hour, believing that others will learn to trust fully in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
