Tony Avila, a Florida pastor who grew up in Tijuana, translated for Pastor Bill Tucker, speaker at the meeting in the Central church. Pastor Avila is also an accomplished singer and contributed greatly to the success of the meetings.
Pastor Tucker says, “During this series of meetings, God's presence and power was manifested in a wonderful way. Pastor Avila's brother Benjamin, who had been an atheist, turned up at the meetings with his wife and didn't miss one of them. (An accident in which he lost his leg had affected a successful musical career and embittered him.) It was thrilling to witness him reading the Bible on the front row nightly and then to see him and his wife give their lives to the Lord.”
The conclusion brought a special blessing to Pastor Avila when his brother and wife made decisions to accept Jesus as Lord. They are currently studying the Bible to prepare for baptism. For Tony, this result alone made his decision to join the evangelistic team well worthwhile!
“Another marvelous story was that of Alfredo,” says Pastor Tucker. “He had been a drifter in the U.S. for 35 years. Two weeks before our meetings began in Tijuana, he came to the city. One night he dreamed that he was in a large church where there was singing. Then he woke up. That day he went to the park and was given an invitation to meetings in a church, and felt convicted that he should attend. As he walked in, he immediately had flashbacks to his dream. He never missed a night. He had believed many of the things he was hearing for years, but now he was being led by the Lord. He made his decision for baptism and was one of many who were baptized during our evangelistic meetings in Tijuana. These are just the first fruits of what I believe will be a greater harvest in this challenging city.”

Analilia rejoiced to see her three children baptized, but hesitated to take the step herself, although she believed the truth of what she had been hearing and desired to follow Jesus. However, Analilia's sister was deep into witchcraft and resisted Analilia's interest in Christ. When Analilia tried to pray, she saw figures of demons, which frightened her. However, when she entered the Central Church she saw the picture on the screen of Jesus hugging a person. As she gazed at the picture, she felt a peace and calm come over her. She bowed her head and prayed, and for the first time, there was no demon interference. Analilia determined to follow the Lord in baptism and since taking the step has felt a tremendous burden lifted.
Ray Puen, a Filipino from Southern California, has been blessed with a tremendous prayer ministry. Several people were healed during his meetings. One of these was a lady with a lump in one of her breasts. While Ray prayed one of his female team members touched the affected area. Miraculously, the lump completely disappeared.
The harvest celebrated with a session in a stadium, which involved all the teams. Approximately 3,500 people attended. A mass baptism of candidates from all the meetings was conducted, with four pastors baptizing simultaneously. Approximately 175 people were baptized during the meetings, says Pastor Tucker, with many others indicating the desire to be included in a near-future baptism.
The evangelistic teams praised God for the miracles and victories they witnessed. Many look forward to participating in a future Quiet Hour program as the Lord calls.
