Freed from Jail

Probha worked as a maid for an elderly woman. During a robbery the woman was slain. When the police arrived they discovered the maid alone in the house. She was arrested and blamed for the murder.

For three years she remained locked up in the city jail. She prayed daily to her family god as well as the city god. Two Quiet Hour volunteers were assigned to work in the city. When they heard of the plight of Probha they decided to visit her.

During the visit they asked if she would like to have them pray to the living God who loves the entire world. She welcomed the prayer. She was amazed and delighted when the jailer appeared at her cell door to inform her that she was freed. The police had captured some robbers who confessed that they had killed the elderly woman.

As she told the story she reported, "The very next day after the prayer to Jesus I was freed." Her family and several villagers joined a Bible class.

Probha is now giving Bible studies in her home. Her story of the answered prayer has interested many people in learning about the living God
