The Quiet Hour, in partnership with Volunteers in Action, has now made it possible for pastors in Papua New Guinea (PNG) to receive a motorcycle. These cycles will make it possible for the pastors to visit more people, give more Bible studies, and attend more church meetings.
Recently Cliff Morgan and David Lawson, from Volunteers in Action, spent a week in Goroka, PNG to train 100 additional lay workers. The volunteer missionaries will be assisting in the groundwork to prepare for the August 2008 meetings to be held by Pastor Bill Tucker and 10 teams.
At the conclusion of their training seminars Cliff and David went into Lae, PNG to receive the new motorcycles. What a exciting time this was for the Papua New Guinea Union Mission staff, mission presidents and other workers who witnessed the delivery of these motorcycles.
As the pastors were given their new motorcycle, they signed an agreement about the ownership, maintenance and service of the cycle.
Not only were the mission pastors and staff excited about the purchase of the motorcycles, but it was also a special time for Ela Motors (Lae, PNG), the dealership that sold the motorcycles to the mission office. Never in the history of their business had they sold and delivered that many cycles in one day (or one week). They generously negotiated a price that was just over 50% of their normal retail price. The mission also took the opportunity to share God’s love to the owner’s of this business, and invited them to worship with them.
