SUNDAY, AUGUST 19
Good morning. It’s Sunday morning, and the sun is shining as usual. We had a full church yesterday morning.

Last night, however, the attendance was down, quite the opposite of what we had expected. I think we did have a good service, however. They gave out six Bibles to visitors who have been there every night. I think tonight they will give out some music CDs also.

When I heard we would be eating at a clinic, I thought of a one or two-room outpost. But the Ana Stahl Clinic to me is more like a hospital. I tried to get details, but the place was virtually closed down on Sabbath. I understand they have at least 24 beds, and all the major departments of a hospital. I was told that the information could be found in the Adventist Encyclopedia. I have never heard of that publication, but it must be somewhere.

Today we will have clinics at the Central Church, just three blocks from here, so we get to walk! Amazing!

I (we) miss not being with the whole group when going on clinic duties as they have morning worships and get to share experiences, etc. But everybody has their role to fulfill, so we do what we can, the be0st way we can.

The supply of eyeglasses is running low, so I don’t know how much we’ll be able to do for those we see during the next few days. The demand has been great!

Since I can’t report on what has not yet happened, I will sign off, get some breakfast, and head out to the clinic shortly.

Have a good day.
Harvey

We do appreciate your prayers. Friday night they had all the attendees write out prayer requests, and these were then given to several of the church leaders (and myself) for prayer.

MONDAY, AUGUST 20
Good evening, to one and all.

We did not have clinics this morning, but were all able to meet for morning worship and the sharing of experiences. It was a very good meeting, to hear how others were doing at their sites.

After that, I went with Jackie Tucker and another participant to the market. She needed to get fruits and vegetables for a talk she was to give on healthful diet.

She also bought supplies to take to the orphanage on Friday, like toothbrushes, diapers, and who knows what else. Also 100 pounds of beans and another 100 of rice. I am sure they will appreciate this.

Then my driver, Oscar, took me to look for wood. We did go to a place that had wooden products, and they referred us to the shop a few blocks away. I got some beautiful round 2” slabs, from 10-16 inches. Most of them were "palo de sangre" (blood wood), very red, and beautiful. I also got some other wood and bought a lovely bowl, and I hope Frances accepts it as a souvenir from here. It is beautiful, and will hold fruit and display it with "dignity."

I went to the clinic cafeteria for lunch and later took my siesta.

At the evening meeting, we had a good attendance. Took some pictures of the children. There were 17 of the smaller ones, and 45 of the larger ones. Caroline Robinson and her helpers are doing a good job with them.

Tonight’s health talk on charcoal was not on the Spanish CD, so she used the English version which was there, and I translated more than usual.

Our talk this evening was on the “State of the Dead,” and we sure have some beautiful promises in the Bible on this topic, and the promise of the resurrection and eternity with loved ones and God.

I got a phone call to join Tuckers in Room 309 for "afterglow" and some fruit, so will sign off.

Thanks for your prayers.
Harvey
