Nina's Testimony
Nina and her husband operated a small business that produced sweets and pickles. One day some church folk were passing out tracts. Nina requested one. As she glanced at it she said, "I have some questions about Jesus." The couple at the door answered Nina's queries. She told the couple that she would like to study more about Jesus. "I want to know why He is called God."
The very next day she attended the Bible study. Her husband did not ask her where she had been early that evening. However, the second day the Bible study was late getting out. Her husband became angry when she had not told him where she was going. As she continued attending he said, "You can do what you want, but you are never to take our children to that meeting."
During the seventh Bible study the topic happened to deal with the returning of tithe to the Lord. Nina listened carefully. She and her husband were having some financial problems. Two friends had failed to return money that had been loaned to them several years before.
The concept of testing the Lord brought the overdue loans to mind. When she went home that night she prayed, "Lord, you know that my family urgently needs funds. As soon as my friends return the money that they borrowed I will return the tithe to You." This prayer was offered on Thursday evening. On Friday she received the 5,000-rupee loan in full. On Sabbath she placed 500 rupees in the offering plate. During the next week she received the other loan in full. And the following Sabbath she placed 200 rupees in the offering.
Nina's testimony is from her heart. "Jesus Christ is a good God, He keeps His promises. As long as I live I will return a faithful tithe to the Lord," she said. Nina was recently baptized. She reports that her business has doubled since she started returning her tithe.
Her husband is beginning to see that what Nina has discovered about Jesus is truth. He told Nina, "There is some power in your new God, I will watch carefully what He does." Since her baptism Nina has been praying that her husband will see more of the power of Jesus and give his heart to the Lord. |
