Good news! We safely arrived here in Mongolia! The trip was a long one - nearly 12 hours from LAX to Seoul, Korea, and then another 3.5 hours to Ulaanbaatar. We were nine people altogether on the plane from Seoul but ended up with 17 people in a small van for our trip from the airport to the hotel.
It was good to get to sleep in the local hotel here and to sleep late in the morning. Since some of the folk will head to their sites by plane on Wednesday afternoon, we've started the orientation today.
The weather here is comfortably cool—probably in the mid-70s.
We've learned today that the work here was started in 1992 when a couple came here to work. In 1993 the first three individuals were baptized and the next year five more were baptized. The church was officially and legally registered July, 1997. Today, the membership stands at 953! There are five Quiet Hour teams plus another two from Australia holding meetings at this time. Keep us in your prayers.

Today we've enjoyed a morning of more orientation, then this afternoon after lunch two groups got sent off by plane to their two towns. One is going way out to western Mongolia, flying a couple of hours by air and then traveling by car for another five or six hours.
Tomorrow morning we are heading out by van at 8:00 a.m. to Bulgan—a seven-hour trip. The plan is for the meetings to begin Friday night, then the church dedication will be on Saturday morning with all the church officials along with local government officials attending. Our friends Peter & Nerida Koolik and Cliff & Val Morgan, all from Australia, are there in Bulgan helping to build the church, so we're looking forward to seeing them.
