A team needs you!
  by Charlene West

For many years The Quiet Hour has been inviting pastors and lay evangelists to participate in evangelistic meetings in foreign countries such as India, Africa, Russia, and Thailand. Many people—men, women, and children—have answered the invitation and have shared their love for God in these various places. However, in many cases, these willing pastors and lay evangelists are in need of team members—people who are willing to join them and help them as the Bible truths are shared.

The Scriptures give many accounts of spiritual leaders who have formed a team to help them in their evangelistic programs. Let’s look at a few of these stories.

When God called Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, Moses needed a team to help him in this “evangelism” project—a 40-year project. God called Moses’ brother and sister, Aaron and Miriam, to join him. Together they were witnesses to the Israelites and provided them strength and encouragement during moments of deep despair.

Daniel and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, formed an evangelistic team. Together they were shining lights for God. They prayed together and shared their love for God throughout Babylon. And Queen Esther had her uncle to encourage her, pray with her, and provide her strength as she shared her faith with the king of Persia.

When Paul went on his missionary journeys throughout Asia Minor, he took team members along to help him and to pray with him. On Paul’s first missionary journey he teamed with Barnabas and John Mark. On subsequent journeys, Paul teamed with Silas and Timothy. From this we learn that team members are an important aspect of soul winning.

Then, during Jesus’ years of ministry on earth, He called twelve disciples to minister with Him. He taught them how to witness and evangelize others. Then He instructed them, saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19, 20 NKJV.

When Jesus formed His team of disciples, He did not call trained evangelists. He called fishermen, a tax collector, and men and women of other occupations. He taught us that occupation and education are not requirements for being a witness for Him.

Each year The Quiet Hour invites men and women to form evangelistic teams and hold series of meetings in foreign countries. Often they need additional team members to complete their team—they need you! Support team members are important. Each one has an important duty and responsibility, such as providing programs for the children, ministering to the sick and the needy, praying with those coming to the meetings, and being a spiritual reinforcement for the team.

There is still much work to do around the world in preparing for Jesus to come and many people to reach. Will you answer the call to join a team and help bring light and hope to a corner of the globe?
