India Update — Quiet Hour teams return
By Pastor Michael Porter, CEO, The Quiet Hour
Praise God that all The Quiet Hour team members who were sharing God’s love in India are headed home from meetings held in the Dharmapuri and Tiruvannamalai areas. A total of 27 teams held meetings starting February 1, 2008. To date, around 1,200 individuals have been baptized.
The meetings were cut short (by three days) due to some disturbances in one of the areas.
Several individuals were questioned at the police station but returned to their hotel shortly afterwards. News of the problems began to spread through local media and it was determined that closing the meetings early was the best course.
Due to uncertainties with the situation, church leadership determined it would be best for the team members to check out of the hotel and leave the area. On Thursday morning, two buses took the team members to Vellore – a full day’s journey – where they either caught early flights home or took speaking appointments over the weekend before returning on their scheduled flights.
Even though the meetings were cut short by three nights, many lives were changed – the team members, those coming to the meetings, those who were baptized, the family members who stayed home but supported those who traveled, The Quiet Hour staff, and the many thousands who prayed for God’s intervention and protection during the difficult hours as the situation unfolded.
We thank God for His protection and blessing. Thank you for your special prayers on behalf of The Quiet Hour teams ministering in India.
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior – from violent men you save me. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies." (2 Samuel 22:2-4 NIV)
