Greetings from Haiti to all of you at TQH and any others associated with you.
We have just finished our morning devotional here at the hotel. Since we are so enthusiastic and happy about what we are doing here, we spent an extra 30 minutes just sharing experiences and praying together, outside by the pool.
We had just finished worship, and separated to do our various chores for the morning.
Chore #1 was to get some bottled water from the bar. Katherine, my roommate, went to get the water, while I went to do other chores. The bar is by the pool. While Kathy waited for service, a white man, French, who was on his way to sit by the pool, stopped Kathy and asked her, "Are you American?”
"Yes, I am," Kathy told him.
"What are you doing here?" he asked. She told him that we were here to preach the gospel, to tell about Jesus.
"What church are you from?" he asked her.
"I'm a Seventh-day Adventist. We keep the Sabbath of the Lord."
He looked puzzled. "Seventh-day Adventist? Do you have anything to show me about your church?"
"I don't have anything with me, but I will go and look and see if our group has anything," Kathy said. "I'll try to find something for you."
He nodded yes.
Kathy went to the nearest room, that of Ethyl and Loren Price, to see if they had anything that we could share. They had a single copy of The Great Controversy. When Kathy returned with the book, he got up from the place where he was sitting by the pool and met her, and took the book. He immediately began looking at it.
"You may keep the book," Kathy told him. He really seemed pleased. She also told him that when he finished the little book, that he should look for a Seventh-day Adventist church near where he lived, and go talk to the people there. He started reading the book immediately, there by the pool, but before long, he left the pool area, still reading, and went to his room.
He is to leave the hotel by 2:00 P.M.
We pray that he will find a key to what he is looking for in the book.
After seeing so many instances where God has led someone, either to our meetings, or to what seems like a chance meeting or encounter, none of the seven of us has any doubt about the fact that God put Kathy in his path for a purpose. Pray, friends, for the Frenchman. The Holy Spirit has to take it from there.
