He lost interest in village and family idols as his new friends told him about Jesus. Here was Someone who loved him, really loved him.
In 1998 Ganeshan met a nurse working in a hospital. She was a member of one of the upper class citizens. As they visited they discovered they had similar interests. It was a wonderful day when Ganeshan married his new friend. They took Christian names. Francis and Christiana both accepted Jesus as their personal Savior. Christiana's family disowned her for the choice she made for a life's companion.
They received a small stipend from a Christian group that enabled them to start a ministry for the blind citizens of Madurai city in the south of India. It was during their new mission that a friend introduced them to Pastor Paul. He made an appointment to visit them in their home. Francis was greatly impressed that a church leader would come to his home. This was the first time a pastor had visited their home.
From mid 2000 until September 2001 Pastor Paul visited the couple. The South Tamil Conference organized a major evangelistic outreach in preparation for eight guest teams from the North American Division. Francis volunteered to make personal visits. They visited 110 persons. On September 20 seven of the persons Francis and Christiana visited were baptized. On February 2 the young couple were baptized. With their baptism they lost their job. The South Tamil Conference with help from the guest teams from North America have provided a stipend for Francis and Christiana to carry on their ministry to the blind people in the city.
