Health Expo

The Quiet Hour has always believed in medical ministry. “It’s the right arm of the message” has been repeated, regardless of the health-related activity implied. Health ministry seems to be an essential ingredient of soul winning. Health + Ministry clearly infers a close physician-minister relationship.

If at all possible, a physician, nurse, or health educator should be made a vital part of each evangelistic team. These members could supervise the health screening and explain the results, especially any abnormal levels.

Health screening can be done prior to the meetings with illustrated health features presented from the platform each night. The physician or nurse could assist in the platform presentations with instructions that the lecture will be limited to 20 minutes maximum. Assistance should be provided to assure that the presentations are illustrated and animated.

We urge that all teams conduct at least a Mini Health Expo, which is a highly flexible program that can be held indoors or out, as a one- or two-day program or as part of a two- to three-week evangelistic series.

The goals and objectives of the Health Expo are:
1. Build awareness of the church in the community.
2. Identify individual health problems.
3. Educate the public on the personal responsibility of health maintenance, offering entertaining, convincing, and practical information on how to preserve health and prevent disease.
4. Involve community health professionals and organizations in a health education activity so that we can do a better job of networking with these organizations for additional services.
5. Secure names and addresses for future evangelistic outreach programs to be offered in the community and advertise for the follow-up programs.
6. Demonstrate a sincere, Christian interest in the total needs of all who attend, including physical, mental, spiritual, and social.
7. Develop friendships with these people.
8. Increase church membership ultimately through continued contact and follow-up programs.
