The Quiet Hour philosophy for evangelism: SEEK, REAP, and KEEP.

Evangelism, the preaching of the good news of salvation, encompasses the entire being. The life of a person who accepts the message of salvation will experience transformation in every aspect. That is why The Quiet Hour applies the Word in such a way that it addresses our mental, spiritual, physical, and social needs as a complete message. The Quiet Hour evangelism program has three basic phases—SEEK, REAP, and KEEP.

The SEEK phase: The SEEK phase is just that—seeking souls for the kingdom. This important phase lasts for three months to a year, depending on the project. For instance, in preparing for evangelistic meetings, six months of Bible studies, small study groups, and door-to-door visits is important. Providing for the physical and social needs of a group may take a year or more. The Quiet Hour works with local conferences and their members to accomplish this, with our instruction and encouragement.

The REAP phase: When successful groundwork (SEEK phase) has been accomplished wherein people have been introduced to Jesus through a mission project, Bible studies, health clinics, or through personal contact with a church member, a harvest is accomplished, through a two-week series of evangelistic meetings by Quiet Hour teams, culminating in commitments to Christ, baptism, and changed lives. Medical, dental, and optical clinics, children’s ministry, and family seminars are conducted by Quiet Hour teams.

The KEEP phase: All the prayer and effort that go into the initial groundwork, mission projects, and into the meetings themselves amount to little value without an effective follow-up program, which we call the KEEP phase. After the evangelistic campaign or completion of a mission project there are two groups that need personal attention: (a) The new believers and (b) the interests not yet baptized.

After successful harvest meetings during the REAPING phase, other mission project needs become apparent: a new church building or lamb shelter to house the new believers, the sponsorship of lay Bible workers or pastors, and additional Bibles or teaching supplies are part of the KEEP phase.

The SEEK phase (recapitulation): The most exciting aspect of KEEP is that the new believers are “recycled” as SEEKERS—they witness and teach their beliefs to their families and neighbors, thus reinforcing their own relationship with and knowledge of the Lord, perpetuating Jesus’ gospel commission, and creating a whole new cycle of SEEK, REAP, KEEP evangelism!

After The Quiet Hour’s evangelism harvest in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, the astounding 10,000 baptisms we witnessed more than doubled in the next two months. After two Peruvian evangelism projects, plus our sponsorship of a mission plane there, the North Peru Mission reported that 37,355 people accepted Christ as their Savior and were baptized within the year. Praise God!
