“Not-so-dynamic” accountants bring souls to Jesus!
Rick Betat

Thank you for your prayers for us, we have seen God answering them each day.

The two weeks of work are nearly complete, this is my first experience of mission work. It has been incredible. I came to give the nightly health talks, while my nephew preached the gospel. We are both accountants, so I wondered what kind of response we would get as I wouldn't qualify either of us as "dynamic" speakers.

We visited the site we would be holding the meetings at the first day, and it was a bit of a shock to us when we found out that our site wasn't in a church or a tent, but out under the open heaven. It was next to the church, in a dusty field. The local laymen had built a bamboo platform from which we were to deliver our messages. But God has been faithful, and we have had nearly 130 attending nightly, even though the majority of the people have to be bussed in.

God has increased my faith as I have witnessed the people responding to the Holy Spirit, as each night we have had people come forward to give their hearts to Jesus when the call is made. Can you believe that two accountants can use their talent for God this way!

Last week we had the privilege of visiting some of the local friends that have been coming to the meetings. While these people have very little (no running water or electricity, homes made out of whatever they can find) the people all welcomed us with such kindness. One of the homes we visited was that of a 76 year-old woman, who hadn't been coming to the meetings. Her leg and arm both were swollen and giving her physical trouble, and we prayed with her and invited her to come to the meetings. That night she came, the sermon topic was on baptism, and when the call was made for those who wanted to give their lives to the Lord, she came forward. Two nights later she was baptized.

I have more to share, but we have to prepare for tonight's meeting.
