Friday, March 18, 2005: We are still having good meetings with about 4,000 during the week. We have never been in a place with so many accidents, and the tough time to get to our sites. Last night they had the road blocked for hours because of a fatal shooting on the main road and two of the speakers and teams could not get to their site. Other accidents created havoc and people got to their sites late. It has been challenging, but we have also seen the power of God at work in marvelous ways.
Two nights ago we had demons in our sound system and microphones and I stopped the sermon to pray and they left and the system was OK after prayer. Last night the RGB cable that hooks to my laptop had been screwed in tight by a demon to play games. I only push it in to the laptop so it is easy afterwards to disconnect. Nobody comes near the laptop and I’m close enough so would have seen somone messing with the connection. It took 15 minutes to unscrew the cable it was so tight.
Last night we had a great thing happen. An eleven-year-old who has been attending an SDA school had come under conviction to be baptized. His mother said no. He asked again, she said no. She had been attending the Catholic church. Finally, because of his interest in our meetings, she said why do you want to be baptized? He said, I want to be a Seventh-day Adventist and become a preacher like Pastor Nelson (my translator). I wondered why my translator was not at the meeting that night until the end. He had received a call from this boy. So he and the mother and Pastor Gihanno came at the close of the meetings as I was making a call. Already 50 people had come forward. Then Pastor Gihanno came on stage with this boy and shared a testimony what had happened, and that his mother, after two times of saying no, was letting her son get baptized, and that it had made an impact on the mother. At least 25 more people came forward. Then Pastor Gihanno baptized the boy and in all last night 18 more people were baptized. Praise God.
Continue to pray for us, it is dangerous driving on these roads. Already there has been a few accidents involving those connected with various sites, but thankfully no serious injuries.
Blessings,
Bill
