Wednesday, March 9, 2005: Jackie and I and several other team members arrived safely this morning at 6:35 a.m. to a beautiful day in San Salvador. It took us about an hour to go through customs. We were fortunate, the first miracle was that customs did not open any of our seven suitcases we had checked in. We were told later that it is not uncommon for airlines to assess for extra luggage and with all the eyeglasses, we could have been nailed for extra taxes. We were only charged for three bags at LAX at $100 per bag. All of the luggage came through.
We are tired but happy to be here. The accommodations are more than adequate and the people are very solicitous. The brethren are excited about our meetings. When we left the airline terminal we had the Director of Communications for the Conference interviewing us on a cell phone going directly to the Adventist radio station. They had us live on the air throughout the city and the country of El Salvador. Many people around us at the airport were listening intently about why we were here, and the program that we would be doing. It was thrilling to be able to share with the people right from the start.
One of the passengers on the plane was witnessed to by vocalist Vonda Beerman, who found out that this El Salvadoran lady was a non-attending Adventist. She was excited to know of our program in the city, and is planning to attend. God truly works in wondrous ways to carry out His purpose in our lives.
Until the next communique keep us all in your prayers and blessings to all.
