Dear family, friends, work associates, and church members,
As you know, I’m an indigent student embarked upon higher education. (Aren’t all college students short of funds?) My passion is to be a servant of Jesus Christ, following in His footsteps. His commission to “Go into the world… making disciples” is my calling.
I’m part of a College Student Evangelism team working with my college, The Quiet Hour, and Global Evangelism, to reach thousands of people with Jesus’ gospel of peace and salvation. I hold dear to my heart His commandment: to love God with all my heart and soul, and to love my neighbor as myself.
I believe God has called me to work with this program, and by His grace, I will be working for ___ days in the country of ____________, during the month of __________. I need two things from you: 1) daily prayer between now and then for my success and safety; and 2) your financial investment in this mission.
Although I like to believe you’d happily and generously sponsor a portion of an overseas sight-seeing holiday for me, you should know that I’ll be working hard! Our professors and mentors will have us making speeches and sermons, home visits, carrying equipment, taking photos and making notes for later reports, and other tasks such as teaching Bible stories and Christian songs to children. One great reward will be seeing people turn from lives of sin and heartache, to new lives of wholeness, reconciliation, and peace with Jesus Christ.
In return for your gift of sponsorship, I will, at my semester or summer break, accept an invitation to your church to show slides or a PowerPoint presentation of the mission trip, and give an inspiring testimony of what God has done for not only me, but hundreds or even thousands of people I’ll be privileged to serve. (Other than a heartfelt thank-you note, giving a presentation is the least I can do to pay you back!)
