A million-seven!
How in the world
can I help?

The Quiet Hour needs $1,709,150 to fund two desperately-needed planes for missionary service in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. The plane project is in addition to the many evangelism and mission projects The Quiet Hour carries out every year. In fact, in 2006, The Quiet Hour sent more than $1.5 million to evangelism and mission projects around the world. We’re committed to doing that again, and we’ll fund the planes.

Individually, it seems impossible. But together, God will make a way.

God owns not only the cattle on a thousand hills, but the hills! He doesn’t need money. But He does want for us to work in communion to accomplish His will.

Here are some suggestions. Feel free to make up your own.

  • At your next birthday, ask your friends to bring financial gifts for The Quiet Hour instead of gifts for you. You’ll be honored, and the donors will be sent a tax-deductible receipt. (You really didn’t need another Target gift card, did you?)
  • On your birthday, wedding anniversary, or baptism anniversary, give a thank-you dollar for every year God has given you.
  • Get your Bible study or fellowship group excited about the missionary planes, and suggest that they work on the project together.
  • Save every coin or bill you find lying in the street. (A church friend found $1000 in a few months.)
  • Every time you pay your cell phone or cable TV bill (luxury items), set aside $10 for a missionary plane.
  • Buy your beverages at the convenience market instead of the brand-name corner shop and save $3 each. Better yet, make them at home and take with you. Send the savings to the plane project.
  • Grow vegetable and herb seedlings in paper cups and sell them to church friends and neighbors. Label them “Quiet Hour Plane Plants” or something catchy.
  • Hold a yard sale or consign goods to stores, then donate the proceeds.
  • If you have a hobby like birdhouse-building, windchime-making, quilting, or fruit canning, tell people your product is for sale as an investment in mission planes. They’ll pay more than you might think, when they know they’re benefiting a noble cause.
  • Fast one day a month, and send the equivalent grocery or restaurant money to the missionary plane project.
  • Kids and teens can do special projects on weekends and school holidays: mowing lawns, cleaning storage sheds or garages, washing cars, recycling, babysitting, etc. Kids enjoy working on a class or club project.
