The Quiet Hour ... yesterday and tomorrow |
| |
Pastor J. L. Tucker, grandfather of the current president Bill Tucker, founded The Quiet Hour as a radio program in 1937. Under God’s miraculous leading, inspiration, and blessing, the ministry has blossomed into worldwide evangelism and high-tech global communications.
Yet, we’re still accessible to the teen who wants to experience working for God in another culture; to the adult who has aspirations to win souls; and to the loving Christian who can’t participate physically, but financially supports those who can.
More than six billion people live on this planet. That’s a lot of gospel-sharing for all of us to do! Jesus is coming soon, and we have no time to waste. Let’s get involved in as many ways we can. Let’s press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of us. Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, we press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.

| Evangelism and mission projects |
Tens of thousands of people commit their lives to Jesus Christ and are baptized every year because of Quiet Hour evangelism. The Quiet Hour has sponsored mission planes, boats, and bicycles in South America, Africa, India, Eastern Europe, and Asia, which have taken the gospel, health ministry, and material goods to millions. Thousands of chapels, and the congregations to fill them, have been built by Quiet Hour supporters. Every year, volunteers from teens through seniors join experienced evangelists in preaching about Jesus, working on building projects, or assisting in wellness and health clinics. Universally, they say that their own lives were changed the most! An 18-year-old exclaimed, “It has been awesome! God used me to change other people’s lives, but more importantly, He changed me!” |

The Quiet Hour was founded in 1937 as a radio program, but even before 1950 included television programs. Today, The Quiet Hour’s Windows of Hope TV program, hosted by Pastor Bill Tucker, is seen on many satellite and cable networks, and its reach is truly global. This recent comment is representative of many: “I viewed The Quiet Hour TV program on satellite and today I am a baptized child of God. I am happy and excited about it. I want to support the cause on a regular basis to spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” In 1999, The Quiet Hour web site was launched, and continues to evolve as its audience does, adding not only breaking news stories and photos, but also videos to its vast archive of information and inspiration. Free e-mail newsletters reach many thousands of people every few weeks. |

| Publishing ministry |
Since our founding, we have published a magazine, The Quiet Hour Echoes, which contains exciting evangelism updates and mission project stories we’re doing around the world. We document, for example, the changed lives of orphans in Russia and India, and school children in Africa, building cultural bridges with world religions, and the baptisms of hundreds of thousands of brand-new Christians in the Philippines, Latin America, and Africa. In addition, The Quiet Hour publishes an annual morning devotional book (hence our name, the “quiet” time we spend with God!); and other inspirational books and pamphlets perfect for sharing Jesus with others. The Way of Life Bible course is a 24-lesson introduction to God’s grace and love for us, and its thousands of students and graduates unanimously recommend it to their loved ones. |
